"Orion: Beyond Sight, Beyond Sound"

Audio and visual modalities will always be a top priority within the Cicero project, as the lead developer suddenly and completely lost their vision several years ago. With the general release of Cicero, the focus will naturally shift toward audio, video, and the development of a wearable assistant for the blind.

While the key features listed below pertain to the wearable device, the underlying technology will be open source, allowing it to be adapted and repurposed to benefit both sighted and blind individuals.

  • Microcomputer weighing approximately 220–300 mg, clipped to the waistband, paired with an earpiece equipped with a mini camera, microphone, and dual-mode speaker.
  • A GPS module and gyroscope for location tracking and navigation, along with a SIM card, Wi-Fi, and other essential peripherals.
  • Self-contained with no third-party API calls. An on-device Cicero client with a secure communication channel to your home server handles compute-intensive tasks.
  • Voice commands enabling a wide range of actions—make and receive calls, send and receive messages, get walking directions, share video feeds with friends for assistance, and much more.
  • Real-time video feed analysis using heuristics as an initial layer, with more complex analysis requiring inference performed by the home server.
  • Save GPS coordinates for any location and have Cicero guide you to any saved location.
  • Modal fusion exploration to ensure efficient, seamless, and integrated processing of different inputs.
  • Naturally, much more will be added during development.
